  • Material

Traditionally, bongo drums are made of wood, precisely Oakwood. As for modern instruments, they are also manufactured from heavier woods that will provide, but you will also be able to find ceramic and metallic bongos; these are not so popular, although they provide at least one great benefit: these instruments will not react to modifications in temperature and humidity.

  • Bongo Heads

This is another essential detail that influences the quality of a bongo drum, being able to make a difference to the sound they produce. Rawhide heads are traditionally used, although the hide reacts to the environment and may lose its quality, in a humid and warm environment that will alter its pitch. Synthetic heads are more affordable and reliable.
