Tips for Creating A Percussion Practice Routine

Denver Percussion Practice Tips

There are two features that will determine how efficient your drum practice regimen is: the amount of time you spend practicing and the quality of the routine. Here are some Denver Percussion tips to create a practice regimen that is really effective:

  • Determine realistic goals for each practice – try to figure out what you can achieve with each practice and try to stick to what you have proposed yourself to do. Don’t be too hard on yourself, though, if you have a session that is not very successful because you have had a busy day and you are tired, save that goal for the next day, but don’t be discouraged;
  • Find the optimal practice duration – the most suitable duration is different for everyone, so try to figure out the most efficient duration for you;
  • Always pay attention to posture – correct posture is one of the keys to being a great drummer as well as for playing other percussion instruments, so never let your shoulders drop and always pay attention to maintaining the correct body position while playing;
  • Avoid boredom – try to make your practice as varied as you can. Mix in various genres, invite friends for jam sessions and every couple of weeks try new songs that match your skill level.
