Common Signs of Wear and Tear on Your Drum Set

If you play the drums, you surely want to make sure that your drum set is in great condition at all time. However, drums endure a lot while they are played, stored and transported – here are the signs that your drum set has sustained wear and tear that you need to address and is also things taught at beginner drum lessons :

• Wear and tear on the drumhead – the drumhead is where the drum is hit, therefore it is the component that has to endure the most. Check the drumhead regularly for cracks, dents and areas where the material is weakened. If you see any of these signs, get the drumhead replaced;
• Wear and tear to the drumsticks – most drum players use multiple sticks of varying thicknesses, but even the thickest stick can crack or break when the playing gets too passionate. Inspect all your drumsticks for cracks each time before you start playing and toss any stick that is damaged;
• Wear and tear sustained by the drum shell – whatever material your drum shell is made from, it can get easily damaged during storage or transport. Inspect your shell regularly for cracks and dents – if your drum has a damaged shell, it will not sound the way you want it to sound.
