If you decided that you want to learn to play drums, you may be tempted to go ahead and buy a drum kit. However, unless you can spend some hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars without hurting your monthly budget, impulse buying is not a great idea.
Here is when you should actually consider buying a drum kit:
- After a Few Percussion Lessons
Learning how to play drums is not easy. It is not just a musical, but a physical challenge, as well. You need stamina and the ability to follow a beat without losing breath. Many aspiring drummers usually give up once they have to play a fast beat. Maybe you really are a drummer at core and won’t give up. But take drum lessons for kids for sure before you invest in a drum kit.
- After You Have Your Special Place for Practicing
A drum kit takes up some space and makes a lot of noise. This is something you must take into consideration before you buy the equipment. You must find adequate space for practicing, somewhere where you will not disturb the rest of the family or your neighbors.
- When You Afford to Buy a Full Kit
Trying to buy your drum kit piece by piece is not advisable. You will not really save money in this way. And you will also run the risk of getting mismatched pieces that do not sound well together.
