Should You Rent a Drum Kit Before You Buy?

Drum Store

Rhythm is the base of every musical piece. At the same time, it is the first type of music people learn. There are many types of drums and percussion equipment. If you are in the beginner category and want to learn to play drums, we advise you to choose a complete set of hardware and cymbals. Such a set must be installed and you can start playing.

If you want to practice at home without disturbing your neighbors, buy an electronic drum set. It allows you to sing and hear yourself in the headphones, making a minimal sound compared to acoustic drums.

Then, if you are rather interested in percussion instruments with a more intimate character, we recommend the cajon. This is a percussion instrument able to mimic the heavy drum sound, but being more compact and easy to use by beginners.

However, investing in a drum kit is quite a big financial effort and, since we are talking about beginners, we must also wonder how seriously it is actually their motivation to learn playing drums. Many people, especially children, are very enthusiastic at first and have the impression that playing drums is a piece of cake ... until they get in contact with the instrument and see that it is not so easy to learn it, nothing happens overnight and that learning requires a level of self-discipline which they do not have. In this context, it is better to consider renting a drum kit before buying one.
