Tips for Keeping Your Percussion Instruments in Great Shape

Percussion Instruments Repair Rentals

Percussion instruments are made from resistant materials that can take all the hits that are administered, but they need to be properly maintained to be able to preserve their strength. Here are some of the most important maintenance tasks that you should perform every couple of months:

  • Cleaning the instruments – wipe down each component of your drum set with a very soft, clean cloth. Include the drumheads, the shells, the stands, the pedals as well as the sticks and the brushes. If you want to use cleaning products, avoid conventional household cleaners – use only drum-specific products, anything else will damage your set;
  • Cleaning the cases and the carriers – clean the items that you use for transporting your drums, inside and outside as well;
  • Note any damage – inspect all the components of your sets and determine whether there are any scratches or other forms of damage that need the attention of a drum repair expert;
  • Inspect and lubricate bearing edges – use a special conditioner for this task;
  • Decide whether the drumheads need to be replaced – worn, battered or damaged heads need to be replaced to ensure optimal sonic performance. Turn to a drum repair and percussion rental expert for the replacement of the drumheads.
