As a musician, it is highly important that the drummer know how to repair his or her instrument, except of course if the drum repair work needs done by a specialist. Fortunately, some of the common DIY repairs you can perform on your drums are easier than you might expect.
Cymbals - If a crack appears in a cymbal it can mean the effective end of its life. But you can try to filling it with epoxy resin as a quick fix. In most cases, this can prolong the life of the instrument for a little time.
Clean – Sometimes, an old drum can be given a second chance just by stripping all parts and cleaning it thoroughly. You can also try a bit of lubricant and rebuilding it; just be careful with the springs in the lugs.
Bent hoop – Replacing a bent hoop is important especially if either of the hoops is warped – that’s usually why it doesn’t sit flat on a tabletop. This means its sound will never be quite in tune. You can get new hoops from drum builders, and fitting one in is quite easy. Just make sure to select a hoop with the right number of lugs (it can either be 10 or 8), and keep in mind that snare side hops and batter are different.
